Supporting Women Artists Project (SWAP)

SWAP and Girls Prep

SWAP is honored to be partnering with Girls Prep, an elementary school for girls on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Creating and running the Girls Prep art curriculum, SWAP is proud to extend their program to young girls in what for many will be the first but lasting introduction to art. During five days each school week, Girls Prep will offer its students art education classes. This is a testament to the school’s devotion to art as a discipline and provides an unusual and extraordinary opportunity for their students. SWAP is excited to lead these young girls on a path to art appreciation, facility of skill, and passion for art making. SWAP will also lead a selective after school program dedicated to developing the skill, talent and creativity of a select group of young artists.

SWAP and Bronx Prep

SWAP is excited to work with a two high school girls from Bronx Prep, a high school in the Bronx. The students work with their mentors in a weekly rigorous art program that emphasizes the basics and concentrates on individualized projects. Because our artists are each so unique, and our students are interested in pursuing art in different ways, each student- mentor pair approaches their program from a specifically tailored curriculum. Our students are excited to have the opportunity to work on their art making to develop their skill, talent and creativity. SWAP is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with these young women and help them on their personal artistic journey.

SWAP and Renassaince

SWAP is thrilled to be working with a group of students from The Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights, Queens. The group of students, all with different interests and passions, work together in a field based program. Our mentor will take them to movie sets, wardrobe shops and backstage at operas and other productions to show them a different side to art making. Their reactions will be in the way of critique and reflection, both written and through their own art making. SWAP is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with these young women and help them on their personal artistic journey.
